Mizzou improved to 1-1 on the season, earning a 56-41 win over Valparaiso on Sunday night. The win marks head coach Kim Anderson's first win at Mizzou.
The Tigers' defense proved to be strong as Mizzou held Valpo without a field goal for almost eight minutes in the second half. Mizzou forced 14 Valpo turnovers, good for 17 points off those turnovers.
Sophomore Wes Clark recorded his second consecutive double-figure scoring game on Sunday, recording 16 points against the Crusaders. The number also stands as a career-high for the sophomore. Clark also finished with a season-high six rebounds
Johnathan Williams III recorded his first double-figure scoring game of the season on Sunday. His 10 points on the day mark a new season high for the sophomore, as well as his six rebounds on the night.
Junior Ryan Rosburg led the Tigers in rebounds, setting a new season-high mark with his eight rebounds on the night. Rosburg was just four boards away from his career high (12).
Mizzou bounced back at the free throw line against Valpo knocking down 12-14 from the charity stripe good for 85.7 percent.
The Tigers held the Crusaders to 41 points in the contest on 32 percent shooting.
