Carly Kan posted her SEC-leading 16th double-double on Sunday.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou volleyball lost to No. 23 Texas A&M, 3-1 (25-17, 13-25, 13-25, 16-25), on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 2) at the Hearnes Center. Sophomore All-American Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) posted her SEC-leading 16th double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, the latter of which was a match-high. Mizzou won the first set, 25-17, while hitting .515, but the nationally-ranked Aggies slowed the Tiger attack from there to clinch the match. The loss drops the Tigers to 14-12 on the year and 5-6 in SEC play.

"I was disappointed with how we responded when things started to not go our way in the second set," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "We came out really well and did a lot of things really nicely. We just made too many mistakes and allowed them to get going, and once you let a team like Texas A&M get going, it is really tough."

Aside from Kan's double-double, Mizzou also got a really nice performance from sophomore middle Emily Thater (Springfield, Mo.), who finished with nine kills on .300 hitting with a block and three digs. Her nine kills are her most since Sept. 11 in a five-set win at Idaho. In fact, Thater now has 14 kills over her last two matches despite having just three over her previous four matches.

Thater teamed with senior All-American middle Whitney Little (Keller, Texas) to give the Tigers a great presence in the middle on Sunday. Little added six kills and an assist to go along with Thater's nine kills. Senior Emily Wilson (Omaha, Neb.) was also very good, with nine kills on .250 hitting. Junior outside hitter Regan Peltier (Nixa, Mo.) added six kills as well. Sophomore setter Loxley Keala (Kaneohe, Hawaii) finished with 19 assists while freshman Ali Kreklow (Columbia, Mo.) added 17. Kan led the Tigers with her 12 digs while senior libero Sarah Meister (San Diego, Calif.) pulled in eight digs as did freshman outside hitter Sydney Deeken (California, Mo.).

After posting 19 kills on .515 hitting in the first set, Mizzou failed to post more than 11 kills in the next three frames. A&M then exploded as well, tallying 11 or more kills in each of the last three sets, including 17 on .424 hitting in the fourth set. Mizzou struggled to slow All-American middle Shelby Sullivan, who posted 13 kills on .765 hitting.

Mizzou will return to the road next weekend when it heads to Tennessee and Kentucky. For all the latest on Mizzou volleyball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouVB.
