Oct. 6, 2014

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou soccer freshman forward Allie Hess was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday, after helping the Tigers to wins over Kentucky and Vanderbilt over the weekend.

Hess tallied the first four points of her career in Mizzou's matches against Kentucky and Vanderbilt. With Missouri down 1-0 to Kentucky on Oct. 3, Hess scored an equalizer in the 39th minute for her first career goal. The tally propelled the Tigers to a 2-1 comeback win over the Wildcats. Hess then recorded the first two assists of her collegiate career in a 2-0 victory over Vanderbilt on Oct. 5.

A native of Kearney, Mo., Hess has played in 10 games and earned three starts in up front in 2014. Her four points rank sixth on the squad.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 10 with a road game at Auburn. The 7 p.m. CT match will be streamed live on SEC Network +.
