"Tomorrow's a big day, it's a live scrimmage, and we have a lot of evaluation of personnel like it is every day, but certainly with a scrimmage it's kind of like a game day atmosphere, so there's a little bit more weight on that practice tomorrow," Pinkel said.
The #1, #2 and #3 units are expected to receive about 45 snaps apiece on Tuesday in what will be a situational scrimmage, according to Coach Pinkel.
Here were some highlights from Monday's practice from 11-on-11 work late in the day:
- QB Corbin Berkstresser made a couple of nice completions in two-minute work guiding the #2 offense against the #2 defense, as he hit WR Wesley Leftwich on a quick toss, and followed with a well-thrown deep in to WR Gavin Otte for a gain of around 20 yards, despite good coverage by DB Kenya Dennis. LB Clarence Green also had a highlight in the series, as he recorded a pass break up when he dropped back in coverage...
- When the #1 units squared off, QB Maty Mauk hit WR Darius White on a quick hitter for a gain of 10 yards, and then he found WR Jimmie Hunt for a similar gain. Safety Ian Simon made a big play for the defense a couple of snaps later when he intercepted a deep go route down the sideline. Safety Duron Singleton and DE Markus Golden combined to stop TB Tyler Hunt for little gain, but Mauk followed with a pair of completions for 10 yards apiece to TB Marcus Murphy and TB Trevon Walters...
- On the injury front, a handful of Tigers will be held out of scrimmaging on Tuesday for precautionary reasons. Included in that list are: safety Braylon Webb (shoulder), safety Cortland Browning (shoulder), OL Connor McGovern (pec), TB Morgan Steward (hip), DT Matt Hoch (pec), LB Donavin Newsom (hamstring), WR Eric Laurent (hamstring), and LB Grant Jones (knee)...
