Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Athletics had a pair of CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 6 honorees named on Thursday. Graduate senior wrestler Jordan Gagliano and junior gymnast Rebecca Johnson were named to the squad after outstanding years in the classroom and in their respective sports.
Gagliano finished his final season with a 25-12 record at 165 pounds. The Lake St. Louis native graduated from Missouri Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration. He registered a 3.9 grade-point average as an undergrad and an improved 3.92 grade-point average in the Business Administration graduate program. He finished his Tiger career with a 77-34 overall mark on the mat, including an 18-7 record at 174 pounds as a junior.
Johnson earned Academic All-District accolades and was also an All-SEC performer on the bars. She finished the season ranked among the Top 60 nationally on the uneven bars and earned NCAA Regional qualification as an alternate. Just a junior, the Pewaukee, Wis., native was named a 2014 Co-Captain and returned to earn all-league honors after missing the 2013 with an injury. Johnson currently owns a 3.94 in Journalism-Strategic Communications.
Voting on the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America list begins May 20.
