MADISON Wi. – The Tigers wrapped up a busy weekend in Madison, Wi., on Saturday as they went head-to-head against Wisconsin.  The squads walked away with 12 event wins, 17 new personal records (PR), two new All-Time Top Ten marks, and another School Record performance at the hands of junior Kearsten Peoples

The Women

Peoples kicked off the two-meet weekend for the Tigers on Friday night, breaking the seven-year-old School Record on the weight throw.  She won the competition with a toss of 21.01m (68-11.25), and went on to improve upon that mark with another win on Saturday, throwing 21.18m (69-6).  She currently sits at the No. 3 spot on the national rankings, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA).

Also marking a PR in the women's weight throw was senior Katie Evans, who placed third with a toss of 17.26m (56-7.5).

Sophomore Jacqueline Obi also earned herself a spot in the record books, winning the 60-meter dash in 7.76 to land at the No. 7 spot on the All-Time Top Ten list for the event.  Placing third in the competition was freshman Lynnsey Brim, who now sits at No. 9 on the list, and current Missouri School Record Holder, Chelsie Stevens, finished fourth overall.

Obi went on to take her second win of the day, crossing first in the 200-meter dash with a PR of 25.37.

Junior Maggie Givens, who previously held the No. 7 spot for the pole vault, moved herself up to No. 5 after placing second on Saturday with a jump of 3.80m (12-5.5).  Just behind her in third-place was freshman Alyssa Applebee, who tied her 3.65m (11-11.75) performance from the Missouri Opener last weekend.  Applebee now holds the No. 8 spot on the All-Time List.

Other PR performances from the women include senior Landon Wachter, who won the 800-meter run in 2:11.86.  This bests her previous PR of 2:13.94 and puts her at No. 8 on the current national rankings.

The Men

The men also had a couple additions to the current top ten of the national rankings.  Senior Max Storms opened up his final season in the black and gold with a second-place performance in the 3,000-meter run.  He finished with a new PR of 8:20.86, falling just outside of the All-Time Top Ten list, but earning the No. 5 spot on the national rankings list.

Just behind him was freshman Marc Dubrick in third, crossing in 8:22.03 and putting himself in at No. 10 on the rankings.  T.J. Carey made his track debut after an exciting freshman cross country season.  Carey was named the SEC Freshman of the Year after placing 23rd at the Cross Country Championship in November.

Also making his return from an All-SEC performance was sophomore Sam Dickerson, who finished sixth in the 3,000-meter run.  Dickerson earned Second Team All-SEC in the fall after placing 11th at the Championship.

In the mile, freshmen Dan Roe, Drew White, Evan Chiplock, and Tyler Schneider all made their indoor debut for the Tigers, finishing second-through-fifth, respectively.  Junior Kenny Cushing also opened up his season, taking the win in the men's 800m run.

The team is back on the road next weekend with the Jan. 24-25 Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky.  For the latest on your Tigers, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
