Mizzou Golf Tops Six Nationally-Ranked Programs at Bulls Bay

Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Golf knocked off six nationally-ranked programs en route to a fourth-place finish at the 2013 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon in Awendaw, S.C.
Head Coach Mark Leroux's squadThe Tigers used steady play across the lineup and placed four individuals among the Top 35 to earn key regular-season wins over No. 15 LSU, No. 21 Auburn, No. 23 Clemson, No. 26 Texas A&M, No. 32 South Carolina and No. 50 Augusta State.
Senior Jace Long led Missouri once again with a tie for 17th. The Dixon, Mo., native shot steady rounds of 76-70-76 and earned his seventh consecutive Top 20 finish of the year.
Ryan Zech was Missouri's top player on Tuesday, shooting an even-par 72. A sophomore from Kearney, Mo., Zech rebounded nicely from an opening-round 85 to finish his final 36 holes 2-under-par (85-70-72). Zech was tied with fellow Tiger Jacob Fair, who shot 73-78-76 to tie for 33rd overall.
Junior Emilio Cuartero was second among Tiger finishers (22nd overall) thanks to a final round 76. Cuartero has been strong all season and earned his seventh Top 25 finish of the year.
Hunter Kraus capped Mizzou's scoring by finishing 53rd with rounds of 77-74-81.
The 2013 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate was a 54-hole event played on the par-72, 7,363-yard Bulls Bay Course. No. 11 Duke claimed the tournament crown by three shots over No. 48 North Carolina State. No. 28 Wake Forest finished third, just ahead of No. 36 Missouri, which was the top finishing Southeastern Conference program.
North Carolina State's Logan Harrell started the day in seventh, but finished with a 6-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors. Harrell was 7-under-par through his first 12 holes to fuel the title run.
Missouri returns to action on April 8-9 at the Columbia Orthopedic Group Intercollegiate at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia.
