Columbia, Mo. - Darkness halted the second round of play at the 2013 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Monday, but the Mizzou Men's Golf team is playing well and stands third overall with the second round scheduled to be completed at 7:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday. The final round will begin shortly after at 9:30 a.m. ET.
The 2013 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate is a 54-hole event played on the par-72, 7,363-yard Bulls Bay Course in Awendaw, S.C. Auburn claimed the 2012 tournament title and Mizzou is one of 10 nationally-ranked programs competing in the event.
Ranked No. 36 nationally by Golfstat, the Tigers (+16) trail just No. 15 LSU (+13) and No. 11 Duke (+14) in the field. Head Coach Mark Leroux's club currently owns a lead over No. 48 North Carolina State (+18), No. 26 Texas A&M (+24), No. 28 Wake Forest (+25), No. 21 Auburn (+30), No. 23 Clemson(+33), No. 32 South Carolina (+34) and No. 50 Augusta State (+38).
Six teams in the 15-team event will complete their second round of play early Tuesday morning, including the Tigers. Missouri was paired with Wake Forest and Wisconsin on the first day. South Carolina, Auburn and the College of Charleston will also complete the second round tomorrow.
Missouri is once again being led by senior Jace Long who is tied for sixth at 3-over-par. Long opened the day with a 4-over-par 76, but finished strong and is 1-under-par through 12 holes of his second round.
Junior Emilio Cuartero is tied for 20th at 6-over-par. The native of Spain is 1-over-par in his second round and will look for yet another Top 20 finish on Tuesday.
Rounding out the scoring for Missouri is Jacob Fair, who was the lone Tiger to complete both rounds, shooting 73-78--151. Fair is tied for 26th, just one shot outside the Top 20. Hunter Kraus is tied for 31st and Ryan Zech is 47th.
