Columbia, Mo. -
Missouri Women's Golf put together another solid round to finish third at the 2011 Wild Eggs Cardinals Cup hosted by the University of Louisville in Simpsonville, Ky., on Tuesday. The Tigers shot a final-round 300 to record their best finish of the fall campaign.
Mizzou was balanced all week and placed four performers in the Top 25, led by sophomore Taylor Gohn. Gohn, a returning Big 12 All-Tournament Team performer, shot 77 on Tuesday to finish tied for 12th. She was two shots better than a trio of teammates, including senior Marissa Cook who was even-par in the finale. Cook balanced three birdies with three bogeys and recorded the top final round score for the team.
Fellow senior Hannah Lovelock shot 77 (+5) on Tuesday to finish 9-over-par for the tournament. Freshman Laura Kraft shot back-to-back rounds of 75-78—153 to equal Cook and Lovelock in a tie for 23rd.
Sophomore Kate Gallagher (+10) also responded well for Missouri and shot a 2-over-par 74. Gallagher improved by six shots from her round-one total and played a big part in MU's top-three finish. She finished the event tied for 30th.
North Carolina State (+20) claimed a two-shot win over East Carolina (+22) in the team standings. East Carolina's Julia Strandberg (+1) won medalist honors with rounds of 75-70—145. Her final-round 70 was the lone under-par score on Tuesday.
The Tigers return to action Oct. 3-4 at the Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia.
