COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri women's soccer team won its second game against a Big Ten Conference opponent this weekend as the Tigers took down the Purdue Boilermakers, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at Walton Stadium. The win improved Mizzou's record to 3-1-0, while the Boilermakers fell to 1-3-0.

Missouri used a flurry of offense to outlast the Boilermakers and take the win despite giving up an early goal in the 21st minute. The Tigers outshot Purdue 32-12, with five of Mizzou's shots clanging off the crossbar.

"Purdue gave us all we could handle," Head Coach Bryan Blitz said. "Sunday games are always tough but we were impressed that our team bounced back from giving up an early goal. You don't like to give up the early goal, but it's good to see your team score quickly after both Purdue goals. Now, it's time to focus on Northern Arizona."

After Purdue got on the board first in the 21st minute, the Tigers responded with two first half to take a 2-1 lead into the break. Freshman Abi Raymer netted Mizzou's first goal in the 26th minute and sophomore Dominique Richardson added the other another in the 35th minute.

Mizzou added two more goals in the second half. Sophomore Danielle Nottingham scored the eventual game-winner in the 51st minute and sophomore Alyssa Diggs added the Tiger's fourth and final tally in the 80th minute. The Boilermakers scored once in the second half, giving the game the final score of 4-2.

Defensively, freshman goalie McKeinzie Sauerwein had four saves to keep the Tigers on top.

Northern Arizona is up next for the Tigers, as the two squads faceoff at Walton Stadium on Friday, Sep. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Friday's game will be streamed live on mutigers.com. Fans can also follow the match and receive updates about the Tigers on twitter (www.twitter.com/mizzousoccer) and on facebook (www.facebook.com/mizzousoccer).
