Tigers Collect Big Win Over No. 40 Kansas State

Manhattan, Kan. – Missouri looked to improve its record 11-8, 3-4 Big 12 and did so when they upset the Kansas State Wildcats on Sunday afternoon at Body First Tennis and Fitness Center.
The Tigers continue to improve in doubles play and took away their third consecutive doubles point when Mallory Weber and Marlen Hacke overthrew Petra Neidermayerova and Nina Sertic of Kansas State 8-3 and when the pairing of Kaitlyn Ritchie and Maria Christensen stole a win when Antea Huljev and Karla Bonacic retired 2-3 due to an injury. Missouri's Rachel Stuhlmann and Jamie Mera were closely overcome 8-6 in their doubles match versus Ana Gomez Aleman and Carmen Borau Ramos.
Ritchie a senior from Bartlesville, Okla. continued to make impressive tennis gains this season as she acquired another win this week 7-6 (9), 7-6 (2). Ritchie has had recent success against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas and now Kansas State.
Missouri continued to prevail over the Wildcats when Hacke obtained a win over her opponent 6-4, 6-1. The Tigers' Mera took down Petra Chuda 6-4, 6-2 and Stuhlmann finished off Borau Ramos 7-5, 6-1. Weber faced No. 43 Niedermayerova of Kansas State and fought her way through three sets. Weber won her first set 7-5 but fell in a close third set 4-6. Christensen of Missouri also competed in three sets just coming up short. The Wildcats' Gomez Aleman lost the first set 3-6 to Christensen but came back in a second set tiebreaker 7-6 (4) and pulled out a close win 6-4 in the third set.
The Missouri Tigers come home to face Texas Tech on Sunday, April 17 at noon after upsetting the Wildcats. Weather permitting Missouri will play outside at Bethel Park.
