
Missouri Triumphed over Big 10 Minnesota

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Tigers came away with a win (4-3) on Friday evening against the Big 10's Minnesota Gophers after a grueling match.
Missouri gave the Gophers the lead when they lost the doubles point early on. Tigers Mallory Weber and Kaitlyn Ritchie stomped Ferrazi and Muravnik of Minnesota at No. 1 doubles 8-4. All the while, Rachel Stuhlmann and partner Maria Christensen fell 8-4 against Gophers Forsyth and Wiecha. The doubles point came down to the No. 3 doubles pairing of Jamie Mera and Marlen Hacke but they were defeated 8-5.
Trailing after doubles, the Tigers had to come back strong and had some strenuous singles matches. Ritchie lost a heartbreaker to Ferazzi (4-6, 6-1, 3-6) while Weber overpowered Umarets (6-2, 6-1). Notably No.3 Hacke (6-0, 6-3), No. 4 Christensen (6-4, 6-3) and No. 6 Stuhlmann (6-3, 6-2) had a successful night winning their matches in just two sets. The Tigers' Mera gave a good effort but fell to her opponent (0-6, 4-6). Missouri took away a 4-3 win and continues to play well at home.
The Missouri Tigers will be hitting the road for a conference match against Texas on Fri., March 18 at 2 p.m. Following their match on Friday, the Tigers will visit Texas A&M on Sunday, March 20th. Finally, the Tigers will play their next home match against Iowa State on Fri., March 25th to begin spring break play at 6 p.m.
