Tigers Fall to No. 22 Texas on Road

Austin, TX - The Missouri Tigers faced No. 22 Texas on Friday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. UT's Longhorns swept the singles matches while also obtaining the doubles point.
Missouri Tigers Kaitlyn Ritchie and Mallory Weber defeated No. 23 doubles partners Amanda Craddock and Cierra Gaytan-Leach of UT but the Longhorns battled and won the doubles point. Krista Damico and Aeriel Ellis of UT overcame the pairing of Rachel Stuhlmann and Maria Christensen at second doubles. Missouri's Marlen Hacke and Jamie Mera also fell to their opponents 9-7.
Ritchie grabbed her first set against No. 15 Ellis of the Longhorns but dropped her last two sets. Weber lost her first set 7-5 and her second 6-2 while Mera fell 6-1, 6-4 and Stuhlmann was beat 6-3, 6-2. Both Hacke and Christensen of Missouri fought hard and rallied their opponents for three sets but were conquered by UT.
Missouri will resume play on Sunday when they travel to College Station to face Texas A&M at noon.
