COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri soccer team fell to the Iowa State Cyclones 1-0 in the regular season finale Friday night at Walton Stadium. The loss dropped Mizzou's record to 12-7 overall and 3-5 in Big 12 Conference play, while the Cycloens improved to 9-9-1 and 2-6.
Before the match, Missouri celebrated Senior Night by honoring its three senior captains Kelsey Blincow, Kendra Collins and Mallory Stipetich.
After a scoreless first half, Iowa State notched the inevitable game-winner in the 61st minute when Emily Goldstein found the back of the net.
The Tigers immediately responded with scoring chances but could not notch the equalizer. Mizzou's best chance came in the 87th minute when Missouri was awarded a free kick deep in the Cyclone end. Freshman Kaysie Clark lofted a free kick into the box that sophomore Dominique Richardson headed on goal. However, a Cyclone defender headed the shot out of the goal mouth to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard.
Mizzou returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship. As the sixth seed, the Tigers will take on three seed Baylor at 2 p.m.
