COLUMBIA, Mo. - Incoming Tiger freshman Whitney Little (Keller, Texas) has earned a prestigious honor as she was named Fort Worth Star-Telegram Super Team Player of the Year for her efforts during her senior season at Keller Central High School. The award recognizes the top player among the first team All-Dallas/Fort Worth selections. Little posted 632 kills and 104 total blocks while serving up 58 aces last season, leading Keller Central to the third round of the Texas State 7-5A playoffs. She was named MVP in District 7-5A as well in 2010.
Little, a 6-3 middle blocker, is one of seven incoming Tiger freshmen next season. She was rated as the nation's No. 82 overall prospect by PrepVolleyball.com and appeared on the AVCA/Under Armour High School All-America watch list. She guided Keller Central to a 31-4 overall record in 2010 as the Chargers claimed the District 7-5A title in 2010. Little averaged 22 kills per match during district play, including a pair of 30-kill efforts with 32 at Coppell High School and 35 against Justin Northwest.
Little will join the Tigers with an impressive club résumé as well after leading her team to a Junior Olympic National Championship (17-Open) in 2010. Little will join the Tigers in the fall as one of seven freshmen, marking the largest recruiting class at Mizzou since Wayne and Susan Kreklow took over the program in 2000.
