Postgame Notes
- The win for the Tigers' is their first ESPN Big Monday win since 2008-09 when they topped Kansas, 62-60. The win is also the Tigers' third straight Big Monday win at home. The other two were against arch rival Kansas.
- Mizzou has now won four straight home games against Kansas State with three of the wins coming against Wildcat teams that were ranked in the Top 25.
- The win also gives Mizzou 71 since the start of the 2008-09 season, tying Mizzou with Utah State for the fifth-most wins in the nation during that span.
- The win improves the Tigers to a perfect 12-0 at home this season. Mizzou is also 3-0 this season following a loss.
- Mizzou forced 24 K-State turnovers in the game while limiting the Wildcats to just eight assists (0.33 assist-to-turnover margin). Mizzou converted the 24 K-State miscues into 28 points. The 24 turnovers forced by the Tigers are their best in a game since forcing 26 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the fifth game of the season. 12 of the 25 turnovers came via a Tiger steal.
- The 28 points off of turnovers doubled up the Wildcats in the game and were the most for the Tigers since scoring 33 points off of miscues in their win over North Alabama before conference play started.
- The Tiger defense held K-State scoreless for 4:48 in the second half, turning a 3-point lead into a 15-point lead during that span.
- Mizzou had balanced scoring in the game as five players finished in double-figures, highlighted by 14 from Marcus Denmon. Also finishing in double figures were Phil Pressey (13), Ricardo Ratliffe (10), Laurence Bowers (10) and Kim English (10). Sophomore guard Michael Dixon finished just one shy of double figures with nine points. Eight different Tigers scored in the game.
- K-State came into the contest forcing nearly 17 turnovers a game, but Mizzou committed just 12 in the game. In the Tigers' four Big 12 games this season, they have been very careful with the basketball, committing just 42 turnovers, which is just over 10 per game.
- Mizzou assisted on 15 of 25 baskets (60-percent) as it continues to assist on 60-percent of its total baskets made this season. Seven different players recorded assists in the game while Matt and Phil Pressey and Michael Dixon each had three in the game. One of Pressey's came in the middle of the Tigers' second-half run on a one-handed ally-oop by Laurence Bowers.
- The Tiger reserves scored 27 points off the bench on Monday, giving Mizzou 60 bench points over the last two games.
First Half Notes
- Mizzou led K-State by 15 points at halftime, its largest halftime lead of Big 12 play so far. Its previous best was an eight-point lead over Nebraska at intermission back on Jan. 12.
- Eight different players scored for the Tigers in the first half of action, highlighted by 10 from freshman point guard Phil Pressey. Pressey scored all 16 of his points in the second half of the Texas A&M game last Saturday, giving him 26 points in his last two halves of basketball at that point. He also connected on 6-of-7 shots from 3-point land in that span.
- The Tigers' depth was apparent in the first half as the Mizzou bench scored 22 of the Tigers' 43 points. Pressey had 10 of those points, while Laurence Bowers (eight points) and Matt Pressey (four points) combined for the rest. The Tiger bench hit 8-of-15 shots in the first, highlighted by Phil Pressey, who hit 4-of-5. Conversely, K-State's bench had just seven points.
- Mizzou was frenetic on the defensive end in the first half, forcing 13 KSU turnovers while limiting the Wildcats to just four assists. Mizzou also held K-State to just 24 shot attempts in the first, eight less than the Tigers' 32.
- The Tigers assisted on 10 of 16 made field goals in the first half and turned the ball over only seven times. Five different players finished the half with at least one assist as Michael Dixon led the way with three.
