Columbia, Mo. - Jace Long's run at the 2011 NCAA Men's Golf Championships came to a close on Thursday, as the Dixon, Mo., native tied for 56th at the Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla.
Long shot a 6-over-par 78 on Thursday to earn the Top 60 showing. He was even-par through his first nine holes, but a 6-over-par 42 on the back-nine dropped him into the second half of the individual standings.
Long finished his 54 holes at the Championships with a three-round 225 (+9). He opened the tournament with a 2-under-par 70 before finishing 77-78.
Action at the 2011 NCAA Championships continues on Friday with match play to decide the Team Champion. The top eight teams qualify for the match-play finals. Oklahoma State is the lone team from the Big 12 advancing. The Cowboys are third in the standings, while UCLA is the top seed with a three-round total of 872.
