Tigers Set for Drake Relays

April 28, 2011

Meet Schedule

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou track and field team, fresh off of an impressive performance at Georgia last weekend, will look to build on what has been an impressive outdoor season as it prepares for the 102nd annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Mizzou will begin action at the meet starting Friday as the meet begins at 8 a.m.

As always, the Drake Relays will offer some of the most competitive relays in the nation this season. Mizzou is entered in plenty of those relays again this season, including the women's 4x800m relay. The Tigers were tripped up in last year's race at the meet and had they not, would likely have turned in an impressive finish. So the Tiger foursome will look for some redemption in this year's Drake Relays. The women will also run in the sprint medley relay.

The men's team will run in the 4x100m relay after posting several great times this season, including meet records at the Tom Botts Invitational and the Indiana Invitational. Anchored by freshman phenom Tre' Chambers, the Tigers should challenge to finish among the best at the meet in that event. The men, just like the women, will also run in the sprint medley relay.

Individually, Chambers will run in the 100m dash, highlighting the Tigers' entries in the track events. Senior and NCAA Championship qualifier Aaron Dixon will run in the men's 800m run and Chris Davis, fresh off of a season-best outing at Georgia last weekend, will also run in the 400m hurdles. Rounding out the Tiger men in the track events will be Max Storms, who will run in the 5,000m run, and Dan Quigley in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Moving to the field events, senior All-American Brian Hancock will be the top competitor for the Tigers as he will be one of the highlights of a stacked men's pole vault field. Sophomore Brooks Mosier will compete in the men's shot put and discus. Staying in the throws, Chris Holly and Jacob Bullinger - both All-Big 12 honorees a season ago - will compete in the men's hammer throw this weekend. Asa Wyatt will also throw the javelin for the Tigers.

For the women, Laura Roxberg and Leslie Farmer highlight the Tigers' entries on the track. Roxberg will run in the women's 1,500m run while Farmer will look to continue her fine season in the 400m hurdles. Moving to the field event, freshman Camille Hayes will compete in the women's high jump while both Laura Greenfield and Megan Collins will compete in the throws for Mizzou, doing so in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively. Hailey Twietmeyer will throw the javelin, rounding out the Tigers' entries in the meet.
