Bloomington, Ind. - The University of Missouri men's and women's track teams finished up competition at the Indiana Invitational at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington, Ind. The meet was a scored event with the men taking fourth with 153 points and the women taking third with 135 points. Indiana University won both men's and women's competitions.
Tre Chambers (Colorado Springs, Colo.) highlighted the day by winning the 200-meter dash with a meet record time of 21.23. Also winning for Mizzou was sophomore Tucker Bounds (Columbia, Mo.) in the long jump with a season's best leap of 7.11m (23-04).
Sophomore Brooks Mosier (Lee's Summit) had a great day taking second in the discus with a new personal record throw of 52.84m (173-04) and second in the shot put with a throw of 17.41m (57-01 ½). Also scoring for the Tigers was junior Tim Opfer (Higginsville, Mo.), taking third in the discus with a huge new personal record throw of 51.65m (169-05) and junior Patrick Fitzgerald (Eagleville, Mo.) in the shot put with a season's best throw of 15.89m (52-01 ¾).
Back on the track for the men, senior Chris Davis (Riverdale, Ga.) ran to a new personal record and finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.50. Senior Mark Hughes (Center, Mo.) also ran a new personal record and finished fourth in the same event with a time 48.08. Also scoring for the Tigers was senior Aaron Dixon, (Lee's Summit, Mo.) taking fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.29. The 4x400-meter relay team or Bounds, Dixon, Davis and Hughes took second with a season best time of 3:12.28.
Freshman Lauren Flaker (Columbia, Mo.) and junior Sierra Gant (Wichita, Kan.) led the Tiger women on the track with busy days finishing in fourth and fifth in the 100-meter dash with times of 12.29 and 12.31, respectively. Gant's time was good enough for a new personal record. Not finished for the day, Gant and Flaker also scored points in the 200-meter dash, taking second and fourth with times of 24.94 and 25.31, respectively. Also on the track for the women, junior Leslie Farmer (Jefferson City, Mo.) took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.65 and sophomore Laura Roxberg (Overland Park, Kan.) took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.60.
The women's throwing unit also enjoyed good days. In the women's shot put, sophomore Laura Greenfield (Liberty, Mo) led the way for the Tigers with a throw of 14.60m (47-11). Sophomore Cortni Ervin (Marshall, Mo.) took sixth with a throw of 14.13m (46-04 ¼). In the discus, sophomore Megan Collins (Lee's Summit, Mo.) led Mizzou with a third place finishing throw of 48.44m (158-11). Junior Katie Vanarsdall (Buckner, Mo.) threw a new personal record of 46.78m (153-06) - good enough for fifth place.
Freshman Camille Hays (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior Stacy Swineburg (Camdenton, Mo.) led the women in the jumping events, taking third and fifth in the high jump with jumps of 1.70m (5-07) and 1.60m (5-03), respectively.
The Tigers return to action next Saturday with a trip to Athens, Ga. for a meet at the University of Georgia.
