The Mizzou Men's Golf program claimed victory in its first event of the spring campaign on Tuesday, as the Tigers shot a final round 281 to earn a 25-shot victory at the 2011 Washington State Snowman Getaway in Chandler, Ariz.
The Snowman Getaway was held at the par-72, 7,163 yard Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler.
Missouri boasted the top three place-winners and had all-four scorers finish in the top eight highlighted by individual medalist, Emilio Cuartero, who shot a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday to earn a five-shot win. Cuartero opened the 54-hole event with back-to-back rounds of 71 and a 7-under-par 65 to take a lead he wouldn't relinquish.
Cuartero was followed in the standings by a pair of teammates, Will Harrold and Stuart Ballingall. Harrold finished second in the individual standings with a 54-hole total of 211 (-5), while Ballingall fired a 3-under-par 69 on Tuesday to finish (-4).
Nick Wilson was the fourth Missouri scorer, shooting 73 on Tuesday to finish (-1) overall, tied for eighth place, while Adam Rosenthal shot a three-round 79-74-75--228 (+12) to tie for 50th.
Will Nixon also competed for Missouri as an individual and shot 82-81-80--243 to finish in 77th.
Idaho finished second in the team standings with a three-round 866, while UMKC was third with an 868.
Missouri returns to action on March 14-15 at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.
