NORMAN, Okla. - Missouri opened play at the Big 12 Championships by turning in a round of 307 on Friday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla. The Tigers stand in 10th place, one shot behind ninth-place Oklahoma and are just two strokes out of a tie for seventh place.
Senior Michelle Morgan had the best round of the day for Mizzou with a two-over-par 74. Morgan shot one-over on both sides, making 16 pars and two bogies. She is tied for seventh place in the individual standings.
Senior Julia Potter is tied for 28th spot after a round of 77 on Friday. Potter struggled early, standing at four over after just four holes. She followed a 41 on the front nine with an even-par 36 on the second nine, which included a birdie on the 10th hole.
A pair of Tigers - junior Nicola Race and sophomore Hannah Lovelock - shot rounds of 78 in the first round and are among a group tied for 35th place. Sophomore Lindsey Haupt is in 60th place after an opening round 86.
Oklahoma State leads in the team race after a round of 293 on Friday. OSU is seven shots ahead of second-place Texas Tech.
Individually, Oklahoma State's Caroline Hedwall and Victoria Park each shot rounds of two-under-par 70 and stand in first place.
The second round will be played on Saturday, with Missouri's tee times starting at 9 a.m.
