A final round 288 on Tuesday gave the Mizzou men's golf team a three-round total of 877 at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic in South Bend, Ind. The Tigers placed in seventh spot, four two shots behind sixth-place and four shots out of the top-five.
Sophomore Jace Long recorded his third top-six finish in four events this year by tying for fourth at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic. Long carded a 71 in Tuesday's third round to finish with a 54-hole score of 211. He finished just three shots behind Ji Hwan Park and Taylor Travis, both of San Francisco, for medalist honors.
Fellow sophomore Stuart Ballingall tied for 17th place after recording a three-round total of 217. Ballingall shot a 74 on Tuesday. Junior Nick Wilson tied Long for the best round of the day for Missouri, turning in a 71 to give him a three-round score of 221, which put him in a tie for 27th spot.
Senior William Harrold placed 64th with a 229 total, while freshman Hunter Krause tied for 67th place with a 232 score.
Iowa claimed the tournament title with a 54-hole score of 853, six shots ahead of runner-up Notre Dame.
Next up for Mizzou is the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, which will be played in Jonesborough, Tenn. on Oct. 15-17.
