COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou's Aaron Dixon (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and Blake Irwin (Bettendorf, Iowa) wrapped up their action at the USA Track & Field (USATF) Outdoor Championships on Thursday (June 24) by placing in the top 25 of the men's 800m run at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dixon finished 20th overall amongst some of the nation's elite runners with a time of 1:48.37, his second-best time of the season, trailing only the mark that he ran at the opening round of the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, earlier this season. Irwin finished five spots behind Dixon in 25th after clocking in at 1:49.95. Neither Dixon or Irwin will advance to tomorrow's semifinals, ending the 2010 season.

Dixon and Irwin both ran in the second of three heats and finished seventh and ninth, respectively. Six runners in the heat run professionally as post-collegiate. In fact, of the 30 runners that competed in the race, 13 were post-collegiate professional runners and Dixon and Irwin held their weight with some of the world's elite 800m runners.

Although Dixon and Irwin will not advance, Mizzou will still have plenty of athletes competing throughout the rest of the weekend. For all the latest on Mizzou's action at the USATF Championships, stay tuned to MUTigers.com.
