COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Black Team used a two-run top of the 10th inning to rally past the Gold Team in the annual Missouri Softball Black and Gold game.  The Black Team was victorious by a 4-3 mark in the 10 inning affair.

Freshman Lindsay Muller secured the win for the Black Team with four innings of four hit, two run ball while also going 2-4 at the plate with home run and an RBI.

Senior Gina Schneider kicked off the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th, giving the Gold Team an early 1-0 advantage.  Muller's home run in the top of the fifth would tie the game until the bottom of the seventh, when sophomore Ashley Fleming scored on a throwing error to give Gold a 2-1 lead.

Black evened it back up in the top of the ninth off junior Marla Schweisberger's solo home run.  Freshman Rachel Hay would put Gold back up in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run of her own, but Black was able to take the lead and ultimately secure the win in the tenth.  Sophomore Jaydee Young tied the game on a fielder's choice, and freshman Ashlie Ortega followed by doubling home what would be the winning run.

Sophomore Kristin Nottelmann started for the Black Team and gave up one run in six innings of work, while striking out five.  Sophomore Chelsea Thomas put in seven innings in the circle, giving up a run and striking out 11 as the starter for the Gold Team.

The No. 9 Missouri Tigers will kick off their season next Saturday, as the team heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for a three game series against the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide.
