
Delaney Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

Columbia, Mo. - Missouri senior pitcher Stacy Delaney (Freeland, Mich.) was awarded Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors as announced today by the league office. Delaney's accolade is the first of her career and Missouri's second of the season. Freshman Chelsea Thomas (Pleasantville, Iowa) was crowned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week last Monday. This marks the first time since 2004 that the Tigers were awarded two Conference Pitcher of the Week honors in a single season.
Delaney went 2-0 and helped the Tigers improve to 23-3 on the year at the Coastal Carolina Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She threw a complete game no hitter against 15th-ranked North Carolina, and recorded a solo shutout of Coastal Carolina. In two starts, Delaney hurled 10 innings, struck out 10 batters, allowed only two walks, and held her opponents to a 0.63 batting average. To date, Delaney is 4-1 on the season with a 0.91 ERA, including three solo shutouts, one combined shutout and a save. In 38.2 innings of work, Delaney has struck out 43 batters.
Missouri will host Western Illinois in a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader set to begin at 2 p.m. (CT) on University Field. Game two will start at 4 p.m. Following the midweek showing, the Tigers will open Big 12 Conference play with a weekend series against Texas. The two-game contest will begin Saturday, March 21 at 2 p.m. (CT) with game two set for Sunday, March 22 at Noon.
