Heizelman Receives Wooden Cup Honorable Mention

Dec. 17, 2009

COLUMBIA, Mo.Allie Heizelman (Cypress, Texas) was one of 26 collegiate athletes to receive honorable mention for the 6th Annual Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. The Wooden Cup is an award given by Athletes for a Better World (ABW) to the most outstanding role model among athletes. The sophomore was one of only two gymnasts recognized as possible recipients of the prestigious award.

The Wooden Cup is given to a collegiate and a professional athlete who have made the greatest positive influence in the lives of others. Recipients of the award are chosen by a committee chaired by Vincent Dooley, former University of Georgia athletic director, and other distinguished individuals involved in athletics across the country. The Wooden Cup is unique from other awards in that it is open to athletes in all collegiate and professional sports. Nominations come from every conference in the NCAA.

Heizelman is joined by three other Mizzou athletes, Madison Marcolla (women's golf), Terry Dennis (wrestling) and J.T. Tiller (men's basketball), who were also named possible recipients of the Wooden Cup.
