Pitching and Hitting Clinics Announced

Oct. 14, 2009

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri softball squad, in conjunction with nationally known pitching coach Doug Gillis, will host a free pitching clinic, Sunday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (CT) in the Dan Devine Pavilion. A hitting clinic, limited to the first five high school age prospects who register, will follow the pitching clinic from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. (CT). The hitting clinic is $20. Reservations for the hitting clinic can be made by emailing Assistant Coach Melissa Tucci at muathmosoftball@missouri.edu.

The Pavilion is located off of Providence Blvd., just West of Memorial Stadium. Those attending the three-hour clinic are encouraged to park in the lot located next to the football stadium and walk across the pedestrian bridge to gain access to the Pavilion.

Gillis, a five-time member of Team USA, helped his squad to a silver medal at the 2003 Pan American Games and gold medal at the 2002 Pan American Championships. Gillis is the lead pitching instructor for the International Softball Congress and is a two-time member of the ASA Major National Championships team in 1987 and 1995.

No reservations are necessary for the three-hour clinic.

All pitchers are asked to provide their own catcher, while youth catchers are asked to bring their own equipment. Younger pitchers using a youth ball should also bring that to their session.

Those interested can pay an extra $70 to have their pitching analyzed and recorded on DVD by Gillis.
