
Coleman's Single Gives Tigers Extra-Inning Victory

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - - Sophomore Trevor Coleman's single in the bottom of the 10th inning drove in junior Ryan Lollis to give No. 9 Missouri a 3-2 win on Wednesday in the first game of the 2008 Big 12 Conference Championship in Oklahoma City, Okla.
With the game tied at two, Lollis singled to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning. He moved to third on a base hit by senior Jacob Priday and scored on Coleman's walk-off single.
Missouri (38-17) has now won nine of its last 12 meetings with Texas and is 2-0 all-time against the Longhorns at the Big 12 Tournament. The Tigers have won their opener of the conference tournament in four of the last five years.
Sophomore Kyle Gibson picked up the win after 2.2 scoreless innings of work in relief. He struck out four and gave up just two hits to improve to 9-1 on the season. He has made four appearances out of the bullpen for the Tigers in the last three weeks and has not allowed a run in any of those outings, a span of 6.2 innings.
Gibson entered Wednesday's game with a runner at third and one out in the eighth inning. He got Travis Tucker to pop out to third and struck out Jordan Danks to end the Longhorn threat.
Gibson relieved starter Rick Zagone, who allowed two runs on four hits in 7.1 innings pitched. He struck out four and walked one.
Texas (34-20) scored a run in the bottom of the second inning and took a 2-0 lead after plating a run in the fifth.
The Longhorns starting pitcher and Big 12 Freshman of the Year Chance Ruffin held Missouri to just one hit through the first five innings and struck out the first two batters in sixth inning before sophomore Aaron Senne singled and junior Priday followed by connecting on his 16th home run of the season to tie the game at two.
Priday finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI and the homer was the 49th of his career. Senne had two hits in the game, with singles in the sixth and eighth innings.
Ruffin struck out 10 in six innings pitched, allowing two runs on three hits and taking a no decision.
Missouri, the fourth-seed in this week's Big 12 Championship, will return to Bricktown Ballpark at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday to face eighth-seed Oklahoma.
