Mizzou Drops Finale at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - - Oklahoma defeated Mizzou, 22-4 in seven innings on Sunday in the finale of the three-game series in Norman, Okla. The contest ended after seven innings due the Big 12 Conference run rule, which in effect on the final day of all conference series.
The Tigers were run-ruled for the first time since dropping a 16-1 seven-inning contest at Nebraska last season. In its five Big 12 Conference series this year, Missouri has won the series finale just once and has lost the last four Sundays.
The 22 runs scored by Oklahoma are the most allowed by the Tigers since 1998, when Bradley defeated MU 23-12. It also marks the most runs allowed by Mizzou in a Big 12 Conference game. Sunday's loss was the worst for Mizzou since an 18-0 loss to Oklahoma State in 1991.
Mizzou scored a run in the top of the first inning on Sunday when sophomore Greg Folgia led off with a walk and scored on an RBI base hit by sophomore Aaron Senne.
Oklahoma answered with three runs in the bottom of the first and followed with a six-run second, a five-run third and a six-run forth inning. The Sooners scored runs in all but one inning on Sunday.
Senior Kurt Calvert singled to lead off the fourth and later in the inning scored the Tigers' second run of the game on a sacrifice fly by junior Ryan Lollis.
Senior Dan Pietroburgo hit his second-career home run in the top of the seventh inning, a two-run shot to left.
Folgia and freshman Andrew Thigpen each had a pair of hits for Missouri. The Tigers fall to 28-10 on the year and are 9-6 in the Big 12 Conference.
Mizzou will play a pair of games at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Mo. this week, taking on Eastern Illinois on Tuesday and Southern Illinois on Wednesday. Both games will start at 6:30 p.m.
