Tigers Send Seven to NCAA Wrestling Championships

Stillwater, Okla. - The Missouri wrestling team will send seven grapplers to the 2008 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships March 20-22 in St. Louis, Mo. Five Tigers earned automatic qualification with their finishes in the Big 12 tournament, while two were awarded wildcard bids.

Finishing among the top three of their weight class were senior Tyler McCormick at 133 pounds, junior Michael Chandler at 157 pounds, sophomore Nicholas Marable at 165 pounds, sophomore Maxwell Askren at 197 pounds and sophomore Mark Ellis at heavyweight. These five Tiger grapplers were awarded automatic qualification.

Senior Josh Wagner (149 pounds) and junior Raymond Jordan (184 pounds) both finished the day in fourth place and received two of eight wild card bids awarded to the Big 12 Conference.
