UNLV Invitational Day Two Complete

Las Vegas, Nev. – The Tigers finished day two of the UNLV Invitational Saturday (Sept. 27) evening. Play began at 10 a.m PDT, and took place in the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The day involved singles semifinals followed by doubles finals. Missouri faced its toughest competition so far this fall at the three-day event.

In Flight One of Saturday's semifinals Jessica Giuggioli and Kaitlyn Ritchie both competed with hopes of advancing to the title match. Giuggioli fell to Natalia Shatkovskaya of Oklahoma State 6-1, 6-1. Kaitlyn Ritchie faced Kristina Nedeltcheva of the University of Nevada – Las Vegas and was defeated 6-0, 6-1.

Freshman Jamie Mera earned Missouri's first win of the day in Flight Two of singles competition. Mera defeated JoAnne Karaitina, 6-4, 7-6, and will advance to Sunday's (Sept. 28) championship match.

Kaitlin Dunham also earned a win for Mizzou and will play in Sunday's championship match in the singles Flight Four. To advance Dunham defeated Hannah Esker of Illinois State, 6-4, 6-0.

In doubles action Mallory Weber and Mera took down Edit Suhajdra and Kim Van Ginkel of Northern Arizona, 9-8, in the consolation bracket of Flight One.

The tournament will conclude Sunday (Sept. 28) in the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Play will begin at 10 a.m. PDT and include the final round of singles competition.
