Missouri Drops 4-1 Loss to UTSA

San Antonio, Texas. -Beginning spring break in San Antonio, Texas, the Tiger softball team suffered a 4-1 loss to the UTSA Roadunners to fall to 30-8 on the season. Senior Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.) scored Missouri's sole run of the game on a second inning home run, her 10th of the season, but was saddled with the loss to drop to 8-4.

Making her 16th start in the circle, Bruck gave up four hits, three singles to the first three batters, in the bottom of the first inning allowing the Roadrunners a two run lead. Leading off for the Tigers in the top of the second, Bruck smacked the 43rd home run of her career over the left field wall pulling Missouri within one run, 2-1.

UTSA extended its lead in the bottom of the fourth on Leanne Risberg's two run homer over the center field wall. With the Roadrunners up 4-1, Missouri went to its bullpen sending in sophomore lefty Jana Hainey (Raymore, Mo.) in relief. Hainey helped bring the inning to an end, striking out two of the three batters she faced.

While Missouri stranded four runners on base, one in scoring position, UTSA stranded seven.

Hainey twirled 2.2 innings and held the Roadrunners to only one hit. In the last two innings, Hainey recorded six straight outs.

The Tigers will take on the Roadrunners for game two of the two-game series Wednesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. (CT).
