Game Quotes
Iowa State vs. Missouri
Mizzou Arena
March 5, 2008

Missouri Head Coach Mike Anderson

Opening Statement:
"First of all, I am happy for our seniors, those guys came in and they wanted to win. The guys that have played here for four years told me that they played (their first game against) Brown University, and so they get to finish their careers in a thrilling game in double-overtime. And of course Volkus and Butterfield, last year North Carolina A&T was their first game, so they get a chance to finish on a winning note and that is always a good thing. One thing about senior night is that it can go one of two ways, emotions are running high and sometimes guys want to do something so special, so badly and it does not go the way you want it to. But with that even being the case, I thought our guys fought through it and the guys came off the bench and picked it up. The seniors came in and did some really good things for us."

On DeMarre Carroll's impressive performance:
"He makes a big difference on our basketball team. I think we saw some of that at Baylor, and he gives us leadership. He is playing through a lot of pain, and it is good to see him finish the game with the dunk."

On Iowa State's Resilience:
"It was a team effort and our guys fought and fought against an Iowa State team that just would not go away."

Iowa State Head Coach Greg McDermott

On turnovers impacting the result of the game:
"We certainly turned it over more in the second half than we did in the first and obviously they turned the pressure up down on their end of the floor. We had some guys that made a few mistakes, but I couldn't be more proud of my team. We battled, we competed, we believed we could win when the odds looked stacked against us. I'm just really proud of the effort our guys gave us tonight."

On improving on the last game:
"We had Rashon [Clark] back which certainly helps. He adds to the energy of our team because of what he does on the defensive end. I thought he really did a good job on Matt Lawrence and made his looks tough. Our guys played with some tenacity and toughness. They were very upset with the way we played in the last six or seven minutes in the Colorado game and they wanted to try to right the ship."

On losing Jiri Hubalek to foul trouble:
"I thought the guys that were on the floor played extremely hard. They did some good things defensively and got some big rebounds. We came into their place and outrebounded them by nine rebounds. Except for the turnovers, we played pretty good basketball. Like I said, I'm really proud of my guys and there are a lot of good things we can take from this. I'm just disappointed for them that they couldn't be rewarded with a victory for all their hard work."
