LINCOLN, Neb. - Once again Missouri opened the first day of the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships by scoring a massive amount of points in the men's weight throw, 23 in total in fact. Junior Chris Rohr (Lee's Summit, Mo.) headed a Mizzou 2-3-4-5 in the weight throw with another school record improving toss of 73 feet, 6¼ inches (22.42m). Meanwhile, sophomore Nick Adcock (Kansas City, Mo.) stands in second after day one of the heptathlon, over 100 points up on his school record pace.
It was an epic battle between newly anointed collegiate-leader Chris Rohr of Missouri and two-time Big 12 Champ and defending NCAA Champ, Egor Agafonov of Kansas, in the weight throw.
Rohr would finish second with a school-record improving toss of 73 feet, 6¾ inches (22.42m). However, Rohr initially improved his school record and NCAA-leading mark on his third attempt with a toss of 73-1¾ (22.29m) and held the lead until the sixth round. Agafonov, on the competition's penultimate attempt, threw the nation's new leading mark of 74-4½ (22.67m) to pass Rohr. On Rohr's final attempt, he was able to once again top his school record, but fell short of the Jayhawk with his day's best.
Ultimately, Rohr recorded a very impressive series, notching five throws above 70 feet. Before his national-leading mark was set a week ago, Rohr's previous best was less than 70 feet.
Senior All-American Tyler Dailey (Joplin, Mo.) placed third with a season best mark of 66-8¾ (20.34m). Senior Nate Englin was fourth at 65-9 (20.04m). Senior Jason Morris was fifth at 62-2 (18.96m).

After day one of the men's heptathlon Tiger sophomore Nick Adcock (Kansas City, Mo.) stands in second place with an all-time high four-event score of 3,259 points. Adcock, currently third in the country in the heptathlon, started the day with a 7.09 clocking at 60 meters to secure a PR by 15-hundredths of a second (7.24). After a long jump, of 22-5¾ (6.85m), Adcock used a shot put of 45-2½ (13.78m) to take third place after three events.
Adcock really made headlines in recording the field's best score in the high jump, the final event of the day. Adcock entered the competition leaping at 6-3¼ (1.91m) and would go on to clear the next eight heights, five on the first attempt including his all-time best clearance at 6-11½ (2.12m). Adcock was in an intense battle with day one leader Skyler Reising (3,294) and Pat Burke, both from Nebraska, in jumping at the elite heights. Adcock's three attempts at 7-½ (2.15m) was cleared by a mile, but on each attempt a kick of the leg knocked off the bar.
As a result of the high jump, Adcock's day one 3,259 total is 102 points ahead of his school-record pace set two weeks ago at the Iowa State Classic.
Kansas State freshman Rok Derzanic is currently third with 3,092 points and poises a day-two threat. Missouri freshman Lars Rise (Trondheim, Norway) is in sixth place with 3,004 points, only three behind Moritz Cleve of Kansas State who is fifth. Rise had the field's best shot put of 51-¼ (15.55m).

Rorvig netted a PR in the high jump with a leap of 5-1¾ (1.57m) and nearly claimed an all-time best in the 60-meter hurdles (8.77).
