Box Score

Battling 34-mile per hour wind gusts and Big 12 opponent Texas Tech, the Missouri softball team improved to 8-4 after taking down Texas Tech (0-10), 10-4 on Lobo Field in the inaugural Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.. Capitalizing on Texas Tech's six errors, Missouri scored eight runs in the first inning, all unearned, and improved to 2-0 in the tournament.

Sophomore Meredith Nash (Peculiar, Mo.) hit her first home run of the season. Taking the fourth inning pitch from Texas Tech righty Sarah Losleben, Nash hit the ball over the center field wall, despite a strong in-blowing wind. Losleben, who entered the game in relief, threw three innings and gave up four runs on five hits. Losleben replaced Tye Coats who started the game, walked two Tigers and saw five Missouri players score.

Jana Hainey, a sophomore lefty from Raymore, Mo., made her fourth start of the season and allowed only three earned runs on 10 Red Raider hits. Throwing her fourth complete game of the year, Hainey now stands at 4-1, having won three straight games for Missouri.

The 10-run win was Missouri's highest scoring game of the season while the seven hits tied for the third highest total of the year.

Junior Lindsey Ubrun (Riverside, Calif.) finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with third and fifth inning singles. Leftfielder Julie Silver (Chesterfield, Mo.) hit an RBI triple in the first, Missouri's second triple of the campaign.

The Tigers will resume play in the Lobo Invitational at 9 p.m. (CT) against host school New Mexico
