Tiger Softball Team Sets Fall Grade-Point Average at 3.20

Columbia, Mo. - Missouri softball Head Coach Ehren Earleywine announced today that the 21 members of the 2008 Tiger softball team have combined for a 3.20 grade-point average, with three individuals finishing the semester with above a 3.80. This marks the fifth straight year in which the Tiger softball team has recorded a 3.00 fall semester GPA or above.

Junior Andee Allen (Barnhart, Mo.), senior Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.) and sophomore Meredith Nash (Peculiar, Mo.) all wrapped up the 2007 calendar year with a 3.80 or higher. Allen, a member of the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 first team notched a 4.00 and is majoring in engineering. Renth is a three-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 team and finished the first semester of her senior year with a 3.85 GPA in biomedical engineering. Earning a 3.94 grade-point average, Nash owned the second highest GPA of her teammates.

The Tigers will open the 34th season of Missouri softball, Friday, Feb. 8, against Virginia Tech at the Florida International University (FIU) Invitational held in Miami, Fla. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (CT).
