COLUMBIA, Mo. - Lynnette Robinson and Allison Guth have been added to the Missouri women's basketball coaching staff, Head Coach Cindy Stein announced today. Robinson has been named associate head coach while Guth will be an assistant coach with the Tigers.
"Both of these fine young women will truly enhance our program in every way," Stein said. "They bring so much energy, drive and commitment in developing our program to be one of the finest in the country. They join another great group of individuals to make this an incredible staff for Mizzou women's basketball. I am very excited about our future!"
In her duties as associate head coach, Robinson will oversee scheduling while assisting with recruiting, player development and will work with post players and serve as liaison for the Sixth Stripe Booster Club, among other duties.
Robinson comes to Mizzou after a four-year stint as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Michigan. While with the Wolverines, Robinson assisted in all aspects of the program and worked with the athletics compliance staff and oversaw the honorary coach and alumni programs.
After one season as an assistant at Northern Illinois in 1986-87, Robinson moved to Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State), where she served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 1987-2002. In her 15 years with the Bears, Robinson helped lead SMS to 10 NCAA Tournament berths, NCAA Final Four appearances in 1992 and 2001 and a 241-118 overall record.
Robinson started her coaching career as an assistant at Purdue during the 1985-86 season after spending two years as a graduate assistant in the athletic department's academic services office at Illinois. As a player with the Illini from 1978-82, Robinson was a CoSIDA Academic All-America honorable mention pick as a senior and was named to the Illinois All-Decade team in 1991.
"I have known Lynnette since our playing days at Illinois," Stein said. "The amount of trust that I have in her is un-measurable. She is an incredible person, recruiter and coach. I am proud to have her on our staff. Lynnette was instrumental in the success and the recruitment of those teams at SMS that went to the Final Four. She has a strong love for Missouri and the people of our state. She will have an immediate impact in all facets of our program."
As an assistant coach at Missouri, Guth will assist with recruiting, scouting and player development, lead the program's marketing and community service efforts and work with the guards, among other tasks.
Guth joins the Tigers after two years as an assistant and head recruiting coordinator at Loyola-Chicago. While with the Ramblers, Guth also coached the guards, helped scout and design game plans and led all recruiting efforts for the program.
Prior to Loyola-Chicago, Guth worked as a sales associate in the Foodservice Division with Coca-Cola North America in Denver, Colo., from Aug. 2004 to June 2005. She also served as site director of the Blue Star Basketball Tournament in the summer of 2004 and interned in the Illinois athletic marketing department in the summer of 2003.
Guth was a three-year letter winner for Illinois from 2002-04 and was a member of the Student-Athletic Advisory Board from 2002-04. She also played on the Illini women's golf team as a freshman.
A native of Arlington Heights, Ill., Guth graduated with a degree in marketing from Illinois in 2004.
"I was so impressed with Allison from the moment that I met her," Stein said. "She is dynamic, enthusiastic and has an amazing passion for the game of basketball. People love being around her and she cares deeply about the student-athlete. All of these qualities will surely enhance our program."
