Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Basketball's highly-anticipated contest with Big Ten foe Purdue is on the horizon and ticket sales are nearing sellout status.
With just over 1,000 tickets remaining for Saturday's nationally-televised contest with the Boilermakers, fans are encouraged to purchase their seats early, either by calling the Mizzou Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-CAT-PAWS or by purchasing online at mutigers.com.
Doors to Mizzou Arena open at 1:30 p.m. and Mizzou Students are encouraged to show up in force, as Saturday's contest marks the Tiger's first home game in nearly two weeks. This highly-anticipated match-up will be televised live on ESPN2 and comes against an opponent that is off to a 5-1 start after qualifying for NCAA Tournament play just one season ago.
The Tigers enter Saturday's contest 5-3 on the year after playing what ESPN Analyst Doug Gottlieb has called one of the nation's five toughest schedules. The Tigers have quality wins over Maryland and Fordham and fell to No. 10 Michigan State and at Arkansas by a combined six points. Both the Spartans and Razorbacks opened the season in the Top 20 and returned all-five starters from last season's NCAA Tournament clubs.
One of the nation's most exciting clubs, Missouri ranks No. 14 nationally in scoring at 85.3 points per game and boasts one of the best inside-out duos in the country with senior guard Stefhon Hannah and junior forward DeMarre Carroll. The Tigers also own one of America's longest non-conference winning streaks at home, as the Tigers have won 22 consecutive games vs. non-Big 12 opposition dating back to the 2005-06 season. In fact, Head Coach Mike Anderson is a perfect 15-0 at Mizzou Arena as the Missouri sideline boss.
