McCoy Earns District Academic Honors

Nov. 7, 2007

Columbia, Mo - Tiger junior defender Lindsay McCoy (Blue Springs, Mo.) was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 7 University Division Soccer team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. McCoy, who made the district's second team, earns her first career All-District academic award.

McCoy, a psychology/interdisciplinary studies major at the University of Missouri, has started all 17 Tiger games so far this season on the back line, helping the Tiger defense record six shutouts.

The Tiger sophomore made the Academic All-Big 12 first team last season, her first year eligible for the award.

McCoy is only the fourth different Tiger soccer player to earn Academic All-District honors. Former Tigers Karen Bauer (2003, 2004), Lauren Grice (2005, 2006) and Meggie Malm (2005, 2006) each made region teams. Bauer also earned Academic All-American honors in 2003 and 2004.

This marks the fifth straight year the Tigers have landed at least one player on the region team.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
