Tigers Advance to Semifinals of the CBE Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- DeMarre Carroll had 16 points and Missouri overcame a sluggish second half Tuesday to beat Fordham 79-55 in the final of the CBE Classic's Columbia Regional.
A day after missing eight of its first nine shots in the season opener against Central Michigan, Missouri made six of its first eight shots Tuesday against the Rams. The Tigers (2-0) shot 61 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-for-11 from 3-point range, and used a 16-2 run to build a 53-23 lead at the break.
Carroll, who scored 23 points Monday before fouling out in his Missouri debut, was named MVP of the Columbia Regional.
Missouri's shooting percentage plummeted to 34 percent in the second half, thanks in part to an eight-minute stretch in which the Tigers hit just one of 15 shots.
Even so, the lead never dropped below 19 points after halftime.
J.T. Tiller came off the bench to score 13 points for Missouri, and Stefhon Hannah added 12.
Marcus Stout and Bryant Dunston each had 13 points for Fordham (1-1), and Dunston had nine rebounds. Reserve Mike Moore had 10 points for the Rams.
With the win, Missouri advances to the semifinals of the CBE Classic on Monday in Kansas City against the winner of Wednesday's game between Michigan State and Louisiana-Monroe in the final of the East Lansing, Mich., Regional.
