Game Notes
After surviving a cold perimeter shooting night in the season opener against Central Michigan (four-of-21 on three-point attempts), Missouri got off to a hot start against Fordham, connecting on their first three attempts from behind the arc and jumping out to the early 10-2 lead...The Tigers finished the first half six-of-11 (54.5 percent) on three-point attempts and 22-of-36 (61.1 percent) overall.
Reserve guard J.T. Tiller started the game a perfect four-for-four from the field, including one-for-one on three point attempts...Tiller's three-pointer sparked a 14-0 Tiger run that that pushed Missouri's lead to 44-19 with 3:49 remaining in the first half.
Including Missouri's 14-0 from 8:47 to 3:49, the Tigers also had a 9-1 run from 16:03 to 13:29 and finished the half on a 7-0 to make the halftime score 53-23.
Missouri scored over 50 points in the first half for the first time since scoring 52 against Colorado on February 28, 2007...The Tigers' 53 points in the first half was their biggest output in the first half of a game since dropping 59 points on North Carolina A&T in the 2006-07 season opener.
Missouri's 30-point halftime lead over the Rams was the Tigers largest point difference in a half since Missouri outscored Southern University 61-29 in the second half of a 117-67 Tiger win on December 6, 2001.
After forcing 11 steals and six charges in the season opener, Missouri's defense was a force again in the first half against Fordham, forcing 15 Ram turnovers that led to 21 Missouri points...On the flipside of that statistic, Missouri only surrendered three turnovers that led to a single point for the Rams...The Tigers also forced three more charges in the first half to bring their season total to nine in a game and one-half of play.
Tiller's lay-up with 5:58 to play in the second half tied his career high for field goals in a game with five...Tiller would set a new career high in points one minute later with a jumper that gave the sophomore 13 points for the game...Tiller's previous high of 12 was last set on January 24, 2007, in Missouri's 79-65 victory over Colorado.
Stefhon Hannah's jumper in the lane with 2:53 to play brought his points total to 12...It was the 10th time in the last 11 games that Hannah has reached double-digits in points dating back to last season.
Keon Lawrence failed to reach double-figures in points for the time since a game against Iowa State on February 6, 2007....Missouri's sophomore guard had scored in double-digits in nine consecutive games...Lawrence finished with nine points on four-of-seven shooting.
With the 79-55 victory, Missouri improved to 1-0 all-time against Fordham...The Tigers also improved to a perfect 10-0 in November under Mike Anderson, as well as a flawless 13-0 record against non-conference opponents at Mizzou Arena under the second-year coach...The average margin of victory during those contests has been 19 points...Missouri also stretched its home winning streak against non-Big 12 foes to 19 games.
DeMarre Carroll finished the night with 16 points on eight-of-13 shooting...On the season, Carroll is shooting 72 percent (18-of-25) from the floor and is averaging 19.5 points per game through the first two games of the season...For his efforts, Carroll was named the CBE Columbia Regional Most Valuable Player.
Missouri forced 21 turnovers that led to 28 Tigers points...On the season, Missouri has forced a total of 20 steals in two games, giving the Tigers an average of 10 steals per contest.
The 21 turnovers also contributed to 14 fast break points for Missouri, compared to zero for the Rams...The Tigers also outscored Fordham by 30 points in the paint, racking up 44 points to the Rams' 14.
Hannah finished second on Missouri's scoring list with 12 points on five-of-14 shooting...Hannah's six assists marked the 15th time in his career the senior guard had five or more dimes in a game...In 13 career non-conference games, Hannah is averaging 17.7 points/game and adding 5 assists per contest.
After scoring his first collegiate basket in the first half, Justin Safford finished the game a perfect two-for-two from the field, scoring five points...Missouri's lone freshman also pulled down five rebounds in the win.
