Columbia, Mo. - Seven members of the Missouri women's soccer team received Academic All-Big 12 Conference honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Three of Mizzou's seven honorees are repeat selections.
Two Tigers, juniors Janelle Cordia (Columbia, Mo. /Hickman) and Lindsay McCoy (Blue Springs, Mo. / Blue Springs) each earned Academic All-Big 12 first team honors. Juniors Mallory Forst (Ballwin, Mo. / St. Joseph's Academy) and Mo Redmond (Brownsburg, Ind. / Brebeuf Jesuit) were accompanied by sophomores Kristin Andrighetto (Pleasant Hill, Calif. / Carondelet), Meghan Pfeiffer (Chesterfield, Mo. / Parkway West),and Crystal Wagner (Houston, Texas / Memorial) on the second team.
Cordia and McCoy were both selected as first team honorees in 2006, while Redmond is making her second appearance as an honoree for the second team.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the soccer academic all-league squad consists of 75 first team members combined with 20 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
The Tigers have arrived in San Antonio and will be in action Wednesday (Nov. 7) as they take on Texas Tech in the opening round of the Big 12 Championship.
