Game Four Victory Gives Gold Fall World Series Title

The Mizzou Gold team took a 1-0 win on Tuesday at Taylor Stadium to clinch the 2007 Fall World Series title, three games to one. The two teams combined for just five hits in a pitchers' dual in game four.

The lone run of the Tuesday's game, which was shortened to seven innings, was an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning, as senior Jacob Priday reached on an error and scored on a double by junior Steve Gray.

Junior Ryan Gargano picked up the win for the gold squad, allowing just two hits in four scoreless innings. Sophomore Phil McCormick did not allow a hit or run in two innings and junior Rick Zagone closed out the game with scoreless seventh inning.

Freshman Brad Buehler allowed just one unearned run on three hits in four innings on the mound, but was saddled with the loss. Freshman Kelly Fick also threw three hitless innings for the Black squad.

The Gold team takes the Fall World Series crown after winning games one, two and four.

Mizzou will open the 2008 season on Feb. 22. A complete 2008 scheduled will be finalized and released soon.
