Black Team Takes Fall Black & Gold Game

Mizzou Baseball held its annual Fall Black and Gold Game on Friday afternoon. The Tigers' Black team won the eight-inning intersquad game by a score of 8-6.

Senior Kurt Calvert led of the bottom of the first with a single for the black team and later scored when sophomore Greg Folgia grounded out. Folgia put the second run of the game on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning, giving the Black team a 2-0 advantage.

The Gold team then scored six unanswered runs, scoring once in the top of the fourth, before a five-run fifth inning.

The Black team pulled within one with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, then took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring three runs to take a two-run lead.

The annual Fall World Series will be played Oct. 18-23 at Taylor Stadium. Game one of the best-of-five intersquad series starts at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18, with game two scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 19. A complete schedule of the Fall World Series can be found on mutigers.com.
