Missouri Softball Team Looks To Help Can Hunger

Columbia, Mo. -The Missouri softball team has joined forced with the Central Missouri Food Bank in an effort to can hunger. On Saturday, Oct. 13, the Tigers will offer free admission to both of their home games with the donation of a canned good.

Beginning at Noon on University Field, the Tigers will take on Johnson County Community College followed with a 2 p.m. (CT) game against North Central Community College. This marks the fourth time in five seasons that Missouri has squared off with Johnson County Community College in a fall game. The Tigers own a 6-0 record over the Cavaliers, most recently taking a 7-1 win over JCCC last season on University Field.

The Central Missouri Food Bank is a regional disaster and hunger relief network that acquires and distributes millions of pounds of donated food annually. With more than 100,000 people in the service area living at or below poverty level, the food is distributed through a network of 145 agencies in 33 Missouri counties. In 2006, the food bank distributed more than 20 million pounds of food and related products which helped feed more than 80,000 people per month.
