
2006 Mizzou Volleyball Season Highlights

* Mizzou volleyball finished the 2006 season with an 18-13 record, securing a winning record for the seventh-straight season.
* In addition, the Tigers were selected to their seventh-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance ... only Missouri and Nebraska in the Big 12 have made the tournament every year since 2000.
* Mizzou swept No. 21 Santa Clara in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. ... the Tigers lost in five games to, eventual national runner-up, No. 2 Stanford in the second round.
* Mizzou reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third-consecutive year.
* The Tigers finished the season with a No. 21 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Poll, marking the third-consecutive season with a top-25 final ranking ... Mizzou is one of only 15 teams to finish in the top 25 in each of the last three years.
* Mizzou won three matches over top 25 teams including a sweep of No. 5 Texas on September 23, the highest-ranked team a Tiger team has ever knocked off ... the Tigers also took down No. 21 Notre Dame and in the NCAA Tournament, No. 21 Santa Clara.
* Mizzou finished sixth in the Big 12 Conference with an 11-9 record ... since 2000, the Tigers and Nebraska are the only teams in the Big 12 to finish with 10-or-more conference wins each season.
* The Zou that is the Hearnes Center continued to fill with Tiger fans ... Mizzou finished the season ranked seventh nationally in attendance with over 2,500 fans attending each match ... the Tigers have finished in the top 10 of national attendance in the last two years.
* Senior Jessica Vander Kooi earned honorable mention All-America honors from the AVCA for the second-consecutive season.
* Vander Kooi was named to the All-Big 12 first team ... senior Nicole Wilson was tabbed honorable mention in the All-Big 12 list.
* Vander Kooi also became the first Tiger volleyballer to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American since 1986 ... Vander Kooi was named to the second team on the list ... only 18 volleyball student-athletes around the country land on one of the list's three teams.
* Vander Kooi also was named AVCA National Player of the Week on September 25
* Four Tigers were named Academic All-Big 12 ... at least four Tigers have been named to the list every year since 2002.
* Former Tiger Lindsey Hunter landed a spot on Team USA and played for USA Volleyball at the FIVB World Championships in Japan in October.
* Head Coach Wayne Kreklow collected career win No. 300 as a collegiate women's volleyball coach in the Tigers win at Kansas State on September 20.
* Four Mizzou volleyball matches made appearances on television in 2006
