Tigers Tab Blake Edwards Assistant Tennis Coach

July 31, 2007

Columbia, Mo. - The Mizzou Tiger Tennis Program announced Tuesday that Blake Edwards has been selected assistant coach. A Columbia native and former Hickman High School tennis standout, Edwards has been a Tiger fan his entire life. Most recently, Edwards has been the Head Tennis Professional and Director of Junior Tennis at the Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City, Mo. Prior to that, he played college tennis for four years at Washburn University where he received his degree in Mass Media with an emphasis in Public Relations.

"I am very happy Coach Edwards is joining our staff", said Head Coach Blake Starkey. "Anyone who knows Blake knows he is extremely upbeat, funny, has great knowledge of the game, and is a very hard worker. Today I am just very happy for our players."

"It is great to be coming home," said Edwards. "Being able to be at Mizzou, working in the sport I love, and actually working with Mizzou's tennis team is a dream come true."
