The Jayhawks have never won at Mizzou Arena (0-2), including last season's thriller, which saw the Tigers battle back from a 74-67 deficit with just 34 seconds remaining ... Thomas Gardner's career high 40 points highlighted the 89-86 overtime win for the Tigers.
- Saturday's contest nearly marks the 100th anniversary of Mizzou vs. Kansas Basketball ... The hardwood hatred began nearly 100 years ago (to the day - technically 99 years and 11 months) on March 11, 1907 in Columbia ... The Tigers won that initial meeting 34-31 and then toppled the Jayhawks one day later on March 12 by a score of 34-12.
- Missouri will be looking for its fourth win vs. a Top 25 foe inside Mizzou Arena over the past three seasons ... - Despite returning just two starters and 37 percent of its scoring from last season's 12-16 club, Mizzou has already surpassed last season's win total and has 14 victories on the year ... The 14 wins for Anderson are already the sixth highest win total for a first year head coach in Mizzou history and the Tigers' two road wins have already eclipsed the one road win Mizzou enjoyed throughout the 2005-06 campaign.
- As a team, Mizzou leads the Big 12 and ranks No. 2 nationally with 11.0 steals per game and has 243 total steals ... The Tigers only had 167 total steals during the entire 2005-06 season ... With its 71-58 win over Texas Tech on Jan. 27, Mizzou earned its 13th win of the year, surpassing the 12-16 overall mark the Tigers had last season ... Currently the Tigers are up to 14 wins following their 77-55 win at Iowa State on Feb. 6.
- While Anderson isn't the lone first-year coach in the Big 12 to eclipse his program's win total from last season, his accomplishment could be considered more impressive than most ... Consider this, Missouri returned just 37 percent of its scoring from last season, while, Kansas State, returns 79 percent and Oklahoma State returns 76 percent ... Oklahoma returns 45 percent, while Nebraska returns 42 percent and Iowa State returns 35 percent.
