MIZZOU BASEBALL SEASON PREVIEW- PART IV: The Outfielders

Feb. 6, 2007

The following is the fourth part in a five-part series previewing the 2007 Mizzou Baseball season. In part four, we take a look at the Mizzou outfielders for the upcoming season.

All-Big 12 Conference selection Jacob Priday returns for his junior season after leading the team with 11 home runs and 49 RBI in 2006. The two-time all-conference honoree was also second on the team in doubles (12), third in runs scored (42), fourth in hits (66) and fifth in stolen bases (seven) last season.

Junior Evan Frey's .337 batting average in 2006 was the second best on the team. He will return to his spot in centerfield after earning All-Big 12 Conference honorable mention recognition and selection to the Malibu Regional All-Tournament Team last year.

Sophomore Ryan Lollis delivered the biggest hit of his freshman campaign in the 14th inning against UC-Irvine at the NCAA Regional last June, as he singled as a pinch hitter to drive in the game-winning run. Lollis hit .327 in 37 games played last year, driving in 20 runs.

Junior Kurt Calvert played in 14 games for Mizzou last year, mostly as a pinch runner, after transferring to MU prior to 2006 and sophomore John Kruse, from Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, enters his third year in the Mizzou program.

Freshman Sean Finley was a first team all-state selection as a senior for Shawnee Mission East High School in Kansas and hit .439 with five home runs in his senior season.

Another freshman, Aaron Senne, had a batting average of .505 with 28 home runs during his career at Mayo High School in Rochester, Minn. The three-time all-state selection was drafted by the Minnesota Twins last June.
