LAWRENCE, Kan. - - A two-out home run in the bottom of the eighth inning by Kansas third baseman Erik Morrison gave the Jayhawks a 3-2 victory over Mizzou on Saturday to even the series at one game a piece. The third and deciding game of the three-game set is Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lawrence.

Trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning, Mizzou put together a two-out rally to take the lead. After the first two Tigers to the plate grounded out, sophomore Jacob Priday singled and senior Derek Chambers walked. Sophomore Brock Bond then drove in Priday on a single through the right side, tying the game at one.

Junior Hunter Mense followed by sending a ground ball up the middle, but the Jayhawks were unable to retire Bond at second, allowing Mense to reach on a fielder's choice and Chambers to score the go-ahead run.

Kansas scored a run in the first inning, as the first batter of the game, Brock Simpson, singled and later scored on a base hit by Gus Milner. Then in the eighth, after Ritchie Price led off with a single, the next two KU batters flew out. Morrison followed with the two-run homer, his seventh of the year, to give the Jayhawks the lead.

The first two Tigers to the plate in the ninth inning reached safely, but could not advance home as the next three were retired.

Junior Max Scherzer, making his first start since March 10 against Purdue, allowed just one run on five hits and struck out two in four innings on the mound.

Priday had his third three-hit game of the season, as he had three of Missouri's seven hits and finished 3-for-4 in the game.

The Tigers left 16 runners on base in the contest.
